Apart from the knowledge that you’ve taken the necessary steps to protect personal data, what other benefit to my service is there? 

When you become fully compliant, you will be able to advertise your enhanced practices by placing your “Independently Assessed as Compliant” notice in your window.   If you don’t have an external facing window or door, there is a paper version – you can have both versions if preferable.
